Clean it Out Before Next Summer
Every year, make it a point to go through the items in your shed and throw out whatever you haven’t touched in the past year. Avoiding accumulating junk means having a continuous routine for staying on top of new items that easily find their way in there.
Throughout the summer, it’s easy to toss in those flowerpots, bags of soil, and other items that seemed only appropriate for the shed. But now is the time to reassess what should stay and what should go.

As you make your annual inspection, start with the larger items, such as old lawns mowers, furniture, old rusted tools, and lawn chairs that haven’t been sat upon in years and probably couldn’t be trusted now anyhow. Finally, when the floor space is clear and the shelves have been liberated from all of that junk, dig deeper into any drawers you may have. Storage containers, tool box drawers – you’ve gotten this far so you might as well go all the way.
